Valley Storyteller's Project
February 4, 2012
Sanger, California

Coordinated by Cornerstone Theater Company and Nikiko Masumoto

You are invited to a public reading of new short plays to be held on February 4, 2012 in Sanger, California.

About the Project

Everyone has a story to tell about hunger—we all need to eat! In a place called the "bread basket" of the United States, a place of both bounty and need, what do people in the Central Valley hunger for? What feeds you? What feeds your hunger? What could we learn from listening to our stories about how and what we eat? Come and find out!

On January 14th, community members from all over the Central Valley of California gathered in Sanger to share memories, experiences, and tales about hunger. Through fun and engaging storytelling exercises facilitated by theater artists and writers, we explored, played, and shared our stories of hunger—the textures, flavors, differences, similarities, and paradoxes.

Based on the collective stories, three Valley writers are creating original short plays that reflect on hunger in the Valley. On Saturday February 4th, we will debut these new collaborative works in a public reading. Please come support our Valley storytellers and writers as they share these new works!
